Pa iksitii (Patience) is a deeply held Métis/Michif value. I am told by the people who hold the stories that it is important to take time and enjoy the day-to-day activities of our lives. Learning to be aware of the sensations provided by our environments was considered quite a valuable skill that required an attentive heart and mind. Mother nature gives us snow to blanket the earth’s energy so that we may use the quiet to appreciate the gifts of our lives. This week’s blizzard in our territory is a reminder of the need to slow down and move within the cycle rather than in spite of them.
This is part of a series of mindfulness prompts that are based in Métis teachings. Each weekly post has an image specifically designed to fit the lock-screen on your phone. The idea is that you can make mindfulness easy, effective and beautiful all at the same time. Placing each new image on your lock screen serves to keep it in the front of your mind while the week allows you enough time to lean into the learning.
